That thing I do (Occupation)

Restaurant sales in Toronto.

Fondest wine memory

Any wine I share with my husband…but one in particular. I would have to say setting has a lot to do with what makes a wine a favourite. I was with my husband in Vernazza, Italy enjoying a wonderful meal seaside under the stars. We ordered a 1993 Fattoria dei Barbi Brunello Di Montalcino. We had asked for the bill but the waiter thought we wanted another bottle, and one soon arrived at our table. A wine has never tasted so good (twice). We had recently graduated from University and were backpacking at the time. Our budget was blown on food and wine, but it was well worth it! Oh, and the trip to Tattinger with the Lifford crew in Champagne was not too shabby either.

Favourite Lifford wine

There are too many to mention, but faves include Elena Walch Pinot Grigio, Heitz Cabernet, anything from Domaine Weinbach or Marion. Pichon of course!

Favourite wine region

Burgundy. The complexities, history and beauty of this region will provide a lifetime of learning (and sipping!).

First job

Working as a salesperson in a sporting goods store.

Indulgence

From a food point of view- When I really want to indulge, the night would usually involve some great cheese, some yummy oysters, perhaps some game and some lobster? Really good chocolate to finish the night off. From a wine point of view- some champagne, something from Burgundy and a nice Bordeaux.

Inspiration

I am always inspired by my travels. My yoga practice when I cannot set sail.

What or where do I retreat to?

My island cottage in Haliburton with my family and two dogs.
