I am the Petit Fromage.
I oversee the day to day operations of the company surrounded by a much admired, second-to-none-team of extremely bright, hard working, inspired, and fun-loving individuals.
Over the years I have had the privilege of drinking some very fine wines, in truly beautiful settings, all very memorable experiences. However, if I had to choose just one stellar wine moment it would have to be in 1996 at a dinner at Château Cos d’Estournelle hosted by Cos, Taitinger Champagne and Maison Louis Jadot. It was a warm June evening. There was a symphony of wine and food and a sea of glassware on every candlelit table. The Maison Louis Jadot Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles Grand Cru 1983 paired with lobster was nothing short of outstanding.
The Douro Valley in northern Portugal, home to some of the most breath-takingly beautiful vineyards I have ever seen. There is an old world , untouched solitude and hush about the entire valley where vineyards cling to hillsides at impossibly high altitudes on insanely windy roads. Our port producer, Quinta do Noval, is the oasis along the route.
Very difficult. Quite honestly, my favourites are many. My top white list includes Staete Landt Sauvignon Blanc, Mitchell Riesling and Paul Zinck Crémant D’Alsace. Felsina Chianti Classico, Il Poggione Rosso and Felton Road Pinot Noir top my red list.
Simultaneously morning paper girl and baby sitter extraordinaire.
Champagne, scarves and vintage coats.
People and the places life takes us and all the unexpected adventures and misadventures along the way…yoga, it helps keep me balanced.
A long, hot bath on a daily basis… a rugged, windy beach on the Atlantic (I have salt water in my veins) when time permits.
